Buffalo Fireman Recovers from Brain Damaged State After 10 years

According to the New York Times, via the AOL News Service, a Buffalo, NY fireman, Donald Herbert, who was seriously injured in a house fire 10 years ago, in a coma for 2 to 3 months and then silent and virtually blind for the remaining 9+ years, has recovered sufficiently to recognize family members and friends and carry on conversations.

Not surprisingly, there was no mention in the article about the most recent person of note to exhibit such symptoms: Terri Schiavo.

After reading this article, how anyone could continue to justify denying food and water to a person whose body otherwise functions is beyond me. However, the proponents of a Culture of Death will find ways to distinguish the Herbert case from the Schiavo case. No matter; those of us who adhere to the Culture of Life will continue to believe in the miraculous power of God in such cases.
