ABC News: New Photos Said to Depict Zarqawi

Having defended the country so ably during the run-up to 9-11, Richard Clarke's insight into the nation's intelligence operations is now bearing fruit for ABC News. After reviewing photos of Jordanian terror mastermind Abu Musab al-Zarqawi thought to have been taken in November, 2004, Mr. Clarke is able to posit that al-Zarqawi is "not in a tent, he's not in a cave." Rather, Clarke perceives that al-Zarqawi "appears to be in a very relaxed, laughing kind of mood — not anxious, not looking like a man on the run."

Such a shame that a man with such a keen sense of the obvious is now on the sidelines rather than at the helm of our efforts against al-Qaeda.
